Trying something different

The last blog I wrote was about the Tour de Hill Country adventure I took 13 and a half months ago. I also have a half finished Asheville, NC blog just waiting here. It’s been difficult to keep this site updated for people to read, so instead I’m going to just try to keep it updated for me to read. Maybe that will make all the difference.

I am no longer going to post these blogs on any kind of social media. Maybe I had a wild dream of this somehow turning into a job and life of adventuring. That would be exciting for a bit. Traveling to experience new things is still my favorite thing to do for so many reasons. But if I was presented that opportunity right now and I really thought about it, I don’t think I would take it.

I’ve hiked and I’ve traveled and although those were the most amazing times of my life, I was not as happy as I am right now. Maybe it’s because of those experiences that I am as happy as I am right now. They made me appreciate the shelter that I have around me, the plants that I can grow in the backyard, the endless choices of delicious tacos within walking distance of my bed, the ability to ride a bike, and the joy of working with people who are awesome. But most deeply, they gave me an appreciation for having someone.

There are lots of things that I want to write about since the bike tour last April, so it’s going to take me a little while to catch up. I guess I’ll finish that Asheville blog. Bears and biscuits and balds. There was some rollerderby, pool day, Fredericksburg, a mural hunting bike ride, a New Years wedding, and then I got married and had the best week of my life. Then Saint Patty’s and trying to get officially married. Since then I’ve been loving life. We went with our pup, Molly, on our mini-moon and in just a week we will be going on our honeymoon where there will be lots to photo and write about. I’m excited about thirstysasquatch!

So I suppose we will just see where this trail leads.
